About Us
The Digital Policy Alliance (DPA) serves to alert Parliamentarians and policymakers to the potential impacts, implications, and unintended consequences of digital policy on governance, individuals, society, and business.
Established in 1993, we have supported senior leaders in the development of strategy, policy, and delivery, helping to unlock the potential of technology across these critical domains. Our global activities are enabled through the valued support of philanthropists and donors who share our commitment to advancing responsible digital policy.
The DPA operates collaboratively across organisational and sectoral boundaries, producing outputs that are Independent, Informed and Inclusive. We rigorously review government policy, legislation, and regulation — both domestic and international— and advance informed policy proposals to promote fair competition, inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Our Mission
The DPA’s mission is to inform policy and decision-makers to foster fair competition, inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience in digital technology, particularly in the context of accelerating developments in artificial intelligence.
How We Work
The DPA has established a reputation for convening a diverse and nonpartisan community of thought leaders, academics, industry figures, and creatives to address the United Kingdom’s most complex digital policy issues. Our objective is to ensure that the outcomes of these deliberations influence policy and action well beyond the confines of our working groups.
Through expert technical working groups, we produce consensus-driven recommendations and outputs for Parliamentarians, Ministers, civil servants, and industry stakeholders. These findings are disseminated through a targeted programme of events, as well as through the publication of research reports, concise policy briefings, and advisory papers. Our work addresses critical themes including responsible AI adoption, digital competition, and the development of a smart and inclusive society.
The activities and priorities of our working groups are subject to quarterly review by the DPA Advisory Board, thereby ensuring relevance, rigour, and responsiveness to the dynamic digital policy environment. All meetings are conducted under the auspices of the Chatham House Rule, to encourage frank and constructive dialogue.
